E3 2008: Final Fantasy XIII Confirmed for Xbox 360
In a stunning announcement at the end of tonight’s Microsoft E3 Press Conference, the president of Square Enix, Yoshi Wada announced to the world that Final Fantasy XIII would be coming to the Xbox 360 the same day it launches on the PlayStation 3 sometime in 2009.
After leaving the stage after talking about 3 Xbox 360 exclusive games being made by Square Enix, Don Matterick the Corperate Vice President of Xbox in his first public event since taking over from Peter Moore last year, was wrapping up the conference when Wada-san came back out and said he had “one more big announcement”.
That announcement turned out to be Final Fantasy XIII. The following trailer then ensued with CGI cut scenes. However, while there were scnes from the previous 2 trailers, there were bits that were new.
Matterick then said to the stunned crowd of what they had just seen that this is just the latest entry of former PlayStation exclusives now coming to Xbox 360. Madden, Guitar Hero, Grnad Theft Auto, Resident Evil and now, Final Fantasy.
Which means that there is one more sacred grail left for the Xbox to get and that is of course, Metal Gear Solid.
But what is Sony’s reaction? We’ll find out tomorrow at their press confernece live from 7:00pm.
