BREAKING NEWS: John Schappert of Microsoft to Deliver Tokyo Games Show Keynote

You…you may wanna sit down for what is about to be said.

In the past 3 years since the next (current) gen consoles were unveiled at E3, we’ve had the 2 of the big 3 taking the keynote at the Tokyo Games Show.

2005 – Satoru Iwota (Nintendo) – Highlight: Introduce’s Wiimote
2006 – Ken Kutaragi (Sony) – Highlight: Pre-Launch price Cut
2007 – Kaz Hirai (Sony) – Highlight: Re-Introduction of the Dual Shock with the Dual Shock 3

Now, in 2008, the list is complete.

My thoughts were that it was going to be a keynote by Yuichi Wada, president of Square Enix, to possibly unveil more on Final Fantasy XIII, Versus XIII, maybe unveil Final Fantasy VII for the PS3 or even…Kingdom Hearts III?

But instead, that honor has gone to…Microsoft.

Wait, Microsoft?

The same Microsoft who until recently has been struggling to break into the Japanese market with the Xbox 360?

Surely, they have some pretty big announcement’s up their sleaves surely if they got the keynote.

Anyways, the keynote will be done by VP of Xbox Live, John Schappert where we’re expecting something pretty big, megaton possibly if E3 has taught us anything.

Just if they reveal Final Fantasy XIII to be going to Japan on the 360, that wont fall under Megaton.

Halo 4…maybe.

Metal Gear Solid 4…a little bit but a new Metal Gear or Zone of the Enders 3 on the 360 would be.

  1. [...] This year’s TGS sounds like it’s gonna be a cracker. We have a keynote NOT being done by a Japanese person in the industry or infact from the 2 Japanese platform holders, Sony and Nintendo. It’ll be infact done by an American company and the other platform holder, Microsoft and John Scheppert. [...]
