New 40nm PS3 slims spotted in the wild

We expected the slightly redesigned PS3 slim to be mentioned at E3 but it seems some units with the new 40nm RSX chip have already made their way into stores.

Over at the CheapAssGamer forum, users have been able to get ones from Target and from Fry’s Electronics, with the new CECH-2101 models sporting  a smaller 40nm RSX chip alongside a 45nm Cell, bringing reduced power consumption and hopefully cheaper costs.

  1. Is the image on the right with “CECH-2101A” on the PS3 box? That’d make it a lot easier to look for it…

  2. Best Buy has the new models in stock.
