Snapdragon to power gaming devices this year

Qualcomm’s 1GHz Snapdragon processor has already been seen in phones like the Google Nexus One and the HTC HD2.

Now there are plans to bring the chip to gaming devices by the end of 2010 to provide competition to the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP according to Mark Frankel, Vice President of product management.

He told Mobile Entertainment that “There will be, by the end of this year, specific game-centric platforms launched around Snapdragon,” and that “you’ll be able to see clearly that gaming is the main focus of those devices. There’ll be a category of gaming devices that hasn’t been on the marketplace before using Snapdragon.”
