GOONL!NE E3 Predictions
It’s that time of year again folks with E3 upon us now in a matter of weeks. Speculation is rife with what to expect from the show, so we at GOONL!NE thought we’d throw down our predictions for what we think (and would like) to appear at this years show. Some of it may be wishful thinking but hey, we can dream, right?
Nintendo
After a rather quiet and disappointing E3 last year from Ninty, this year we see them hitting E3 hard with the new Nintendo 3DS.
Pricing, release date and a list of launch games will be announced, as well a major price drop of the current DS’s to help push them.
A new Zelda game on Wii could be on the cards as the next ‘big game’ on the console after Super Mario Galaxy 2, and a new peripheral for it to take advantage of too, and a new Mario game is a strong possibility.
Microsoft
Microsoft had an excellent outing at E3 last year and will be keen to keep the momentum up. Natal (or Wave if that is the final name) will of course be the star for them, expect to hear official pricing, a release date and a live demo of the hardware in action.
A very wild punt this but a Natal and Xbox 360 slim bundle would go down a storm.
Flagship franchise Gears of War 3 should be teased fuly too and we’re hoping for some gameplay too as on top of more details, with an April 2011 release date, and Project Gotham Racing 5 making a debut at the show, as well as a Natal/Wave game from Rare.
Other big hitting titles such as Fable III and Halo: Reach should have full blow-outs, and after the success of the Halo: Reach beta Microsoft will be quite rightly pushing it.
After building up a considerable fan base from Final Fantasy XIII, we’d also expect to see Final Fantasy XIV making it’s way to the 360, we can’t see Square leaving their 360 customers high and dry.
Sony
Providing all Jack Tretton’s secrets aren’t spilt before the show (hello there PSP Go) Sony should have the best E3 line up this year.
Hardware wise we’ll of course see Move, with more tech demos of the game being shown and with some actual games too, SOCOM 4 with Move being played on stage would help build hype for the controller. Just like Natal, we’ll hear an official price, date and a range of title that’ll be Move friendly at launch.
PSP has been on the market now for the best part of 5 years now and with the PSP Go not being the rebirth of PSP like Sony hoped, expect to see PSP 2 being announced, with tentative details on specification and design being shown. As a send off to the current PSP, some big hitting titles like a new God of War game would be an excellent last hurrah.
Moving on from hardware, with Bungie bringing a new IP out that’s multiplatform, Bungie could possibly make an appearance at Sony’s stand and show their new game here, which would be a real coup for Sony and co., at most we’ll see a teaser trailer.
There are a few titles that have gone rather quiet recently that will probably appear, expect to see more from Agent, The Last Guardian, Gran Turismo 5 (release date finally) and some as yet unannounced titles, like the much rumoured Starhawk.
Naughty Dog will hopefully have a new project to demo, be it Jak 4 or whisper it… Uncharted 3 already underway. Insomniac will show PlayStation owners that although they’ll have a new IP which is multiplatform, some Resistance 3 and/or new Ratchet and Clank will hopefully be shown. One last far out game shout, Mass Effect series to go multiplatform.
Rumours point towards PSN having an overhaul, with a subscription based PSN+ service coming providing extra features for those who want the most from their PS3. 3D will be pushed hard (as usual) by Sony, and an XMB redesign would be welcome.
Oh, and Kevin Butler on stage.
Other Gaming
OnLive will make an appearance, however brief it may be to keep the embers of interest in the service alive. Dead Space 2 is a cert to be shown.
Again there have been games that have been announced but little has been seen of them, L.A. Noire and Metal Gear Solid: Rising will hopefully have more shown of them, with Rockstar hopefully dropping a few hints about the next Grand Theft Auto game.
Deus Ex 3, Half Life 2: Episode 3 and a new Hitman game will hopefully get trailers, and gameplay footage of Medal of Honor and Call of Duty: Black Ops to be shown too.
Well folks, that’s our predictions for E3. Some may be a bit far out and may not appear, but hopefully we’ve made enough logical guesses to get a good bit right.
Any agreements or disagreements, or what you think might crop up, please give us a shout in the comments section!

I shall go back and edit the article, I did write quite a bit about Sony now I look at it again.
However I would say that Microsoft wouldn’t want to overshadow its big games and Project Natal with too many other major announcements at this time, they had an awesome E3 this year, for some reason I can’t see them having as big a one this year unless they pull some exclusives out of the bag.
There also have been a lot of rumours flying around early about Sony’s stand, hence why I did write a good bit more for them, Microsoft (and Nintendo too) have had less rumours thrown about for them.

i reckon we will see a few new ip’s. I also predict rising is going to be like ninja gaiden meets mgs4. I will be pissed off if they just go for a complete hack n slash.
Also syphon filter is making a comeback, and mortal kombat!

Sony looking unbeatable again. You also forgot to mention GT5, which is due this year. (5 years in is usually non-prologue version release timeframe on consoles).

I mentioned it along-side Agent and The Last Guardian.
Hopefully we’ll finally get a concrete release date for it, I couldn’t take another delay!

One other thing, I realize we should have heard something by now, so it is just a pipe dream, but what if MS finally decided to add Blu ray to the rumored Slim? IF you think about it, Blu is the only area where MS falls short of Sony. Introducing the Slim that is compatible with Natal and Blu ray would be a major coup.
Then MS could start planing future games in Blu and if you want to play them, then you gota have a Slim. From MS’s point of view, whats not to like?

The problem with that is that the 30 million Xbox already out there wouldn’t be compatible with Blu-Ray games. Microsoft has the same problem with HDMI and hard drive because not ever Xbox 360 has those built in.

Yikes, typos. You get the idea.

I’d like to see an announcement about the rebirth of Eight Days and Getaway, what do you reckon is the likelihood of that happening?
