LittleBigPlanet Delayed

UPDATE: We’re expecting a press release from Sony very soon but it looks like the new date is November 14th.

UPDATE 2: Sony has confirmed that LittleBigPlanet has, indeed, been delayed. No new date was given, press release is after the jump.

UPDATE 3: Sony has just given the game revised dates for the game and it aint as logn as everybody thought. October 27th in the US and October 31st/Halloween in the UK

Original Story: With only a week to go until it’s release, Sony has announced that LittleBigPlanet, the PS3’s most antcipated game this year has been delayed.

It may come down due to a song in the soundtrack of the game which involves a passage from the Quran as shown in this thread on the UK SCEE Forums.

But there could be another reason for this delay.

GOONL!NE has discovered it could be down to a bug in the moderating tools in the game. It was a small bug at first which now seems to have grown into a littlebig problem now but when were told this, if the game was delayed, it would have been delayed by a couple of days and gone back to it’s original release date of October 29th.

Now, it’s been said that the game will be delayed by 3 weeks. However, emails are being sent out by retailers such as Zavvi, GAME and more to report on the situation. We have an email from Zavvi saying:

“Hello from zavvi,

We are emailing because you recently placed an order for LittleBigPlanet. You may have received an email informing you that the release date had changed to 4th November, unfortunately this was sent in error following an incorrect date feed.

We can confirm that LittleBigPlanet is still scheduled for release on 24th October. We would like to offer our apologies for any confusion or frustration caused.”

Yet, another one from GAME controdicts the above statement stating the game is now in October 08.

As soon as we know more, we will let you know.

During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence that this may have caused.

We’ll confirm the new launch date shortly.

LittleBigPlanet will be remastered in order to remove a track from the game that contained two expressions found in the Qur’an. Whilst shorter expressions from the Qur’an are sometimes used in Nasheeds, we are aware that the mixing of musical instruments with recognisable extracts from the Qur’an is offensive to Muslims. Therefore, we have taken immediate action to rectify this. We will confirm a new launch date shortly.
