UGO Aquire 1UP Network – 1UP.com to Stay, EGM to Finish, 30 Staff Let Go Including O’Donnell and Bettenhausen
It’s not the best news to kick off 2009 with on GOONL!NE but those are the brakes.
UGO Entertainment has accuired the 1UP Network from Ziff Davis Media from the dying ZD Network of websites. It means that the entire 1UP website will stay but such flagship stuff from 1UP such as The 1UP show and 1UP Yours will be nore more.
And as well as that, EGM, after 20 years of bringing people the latest reviews and previews as well as news, will no longer be on sale, it’s January issue which is on sale right now, will be the issue’s last. Shame… we never got to find out about this Manhattan sized megaton they promised us.
And Joystiq have obtained a list of up to 30 people who have been laid of by UGO from 1UP, 2 of which are pretty big names at 1UP, Ryan O’Donnell and Shane Bettenhausen.
