Leaked images from the FCC indicate Nintendo have begun testing their new 3DS, with the surprise being that the new handheld has a 3D widescreen 16:9 display and a traditional 4:3 one.
The image was leaked by WirelessGoodness and all of the components of a Nintendo DS, including two screens, controller, and camera are present on the test motherboard.
Each of the previous DS revisions have had a 3 letter codename, the DSiwas TWL and the DSi XL was UTL.
The new motherboard sports CTR, so it can safely assumed that this is the testing of a brand new DS.
Nintendo have previously stated that 3DS will not be the final name for the new product.
