Ryan Payton Leaves Kojima Productions
Anybody who is a big fan of anything Kojima Productions such as the games (obviously MGS4) all the way down to the podcasts and in particular a couple of the staff wil be sad to hear that Ryan Payton has left Kojima Productions.
Payton, who was a major part of the Western release of Metal Gear Solid 4 along with being a very crucial part of development in Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, announced to Kotaku that he left KP due to personal reasons stating that some heavy news to his mum was the reason he left.
I went back home to my family’s place in Washington state and literally three weeks after MGS4 launched we were hit with some pretty heavy news concerning my mom. I don’t think I need to go into details, but all of this has reminded me about how important family is. So this past month I decided to leave Kojima Productions and look to continue my career working closer to my family in North America.
But before he left, in that interview, he did give one last golden nugget.
In it, he mentioned Metal Gear Solid 5 stating:
It’ll be hard not being involved in MGS5, but I’ve got the utmost confidence that Hideo Kojima, Ken Imaizumi, and our amazing team will put together another blockbuster game. I’ll be cheering from the sidelines.
So that pretty much confirms the existence of MGS5.
He is now back in the ‘States now to work for another gaming developer closer to home. Like Kotaku said in their interview, it’s KP’s loss but whoever gets him has got a very big gain.
GOONL!NE would ike to wish Ryan and his family all the best in the world and we do hope you’ll be back helping to make more great games soon.
