January NPD Numbers Released: Nintendo Gets Triple Crown, PLAYSTATION 3 Hits New Low

Yeah, we never got round to this on Friday night or during the weekend but better late then ever.

If your a Nintendo fan, keep reading; if your a Microsoft fan, you decide and if your a Sony fan, you may wanna look away.

Sales of all 3 home consoles fell dramaticlly as the Christmas holidays ended but Nintendo still seen strong sales with the Wii and Nintendo DS as the Wii sold over 679k while the DS sold over 510k.

The Xbox 360 sold over 309k but the PS3 sold much less compared to this time last year, selling 203k. As for the rest of the PlayStation brand, the PSP sold 172k while the PS2 sold over 101k.

Meanwhile on the software front, Nintendo took the triple crown with their games taking the top 3, them being Wii Fit, Wii Play and Mario Kart Wii.

    Ya, things are gonna get much worse for Sony and probably Xbox. Even though these 2 systems are considered much more “high end” that the wii…the world isn’t going to be thinking about high-end very soon. They’re going to be thinking about inexpensive and fun…which the wii has covered.
