Steam coming to Mac

After the rumours of Valve considering development on the PlayStation 3 they’ve just gone and dropped a bombshell in the shape of Steam making the transition from PC to Mac.

Steam’s massive back catalogue will be available for download on Mac featuring games such as the Left 4 Dead series, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, Portal, and the Half-Life games from April onwards.

Portal 2 will see Valve’s first simultaneous release for Mac and Windows, with Josh Weier, Portal 2 Project Lead saying “This makes it very easy for us and for anyone using Source to do game development for the Mac.”

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands First Look

Ubisoft today have released a brand new video for Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.

Forgotten Sands is set between The Sands of Time and Warrior Within and bridges the gap between the two titles as we follow the Prince as he visits his brother’s kingdom.

Ubisoft apolgise after server outage due to ‘attack’

Ubisoft have issued an apology via their page to PC users who were unable to play game such as Assassin’s Creed II and Silent Hunter 5 when their servers went down.

The announcement read “Apologies to anyone who couldn’t play ACII or SH5 yesterday. Servers were attacked which limited service from 2:30pm to 9pm Paris time.”

The DRM on Ubi’s PC games means that users need an pernament internet connection to play their titles, and the servers which authenticate the DRM was down due to “Servers [being] attacked” in a statement made eariler.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 tops UK charts

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has stormed to the top of the ELSPA UK charts this week knocking last weeks number 1 Heavy Rain down to 4th position.

FIFA 10 and Modern Warfare 2 are still holding strong in the top 20, and Assassin’s Creed II has seen a re-entry in the chart.

New Gran Turismo 5 trailer with God of War III

A brand new trailer for Gran Turismo 5 has been included with God of War III and has found it’s way onto YouTube.

The new trailer features the Rome circuit, night racing and everyone’s most anticpated feature for GT5, damage.

Metro 2033 goes Gold

THQ have announced that their post-apocalyptic shooter Metro 2033 has gone gold and is on course to launch on Xbox 360 and PC March 16th in the US and March 19th in the EU.

“We’re excited to be bringing such a truly original experience to market,” said Richard Williams, Vice President of Global Brand Management at THQ, with Williams going on to describe Metro 2033 as having “the most impressive visuals seen on either PC or console to date.”

For those of you with the appropriate hardware, Metro can also be played in 3D.

Sony snap up Media Molecule

Sony have today announced that they’ve completed the purchase of Media Molecule, who are most known for the LittleBigPlanet games on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.

Shuhei Yoshida President of SCE Worldwide Studios described Media Molecule as “world-class,” and further praise was lavished upon the devs by Yoshida, “SCE WWS is all about creating ambitious, innovative and ground breaking games, traits that Media Molecule clearly have.  To bring them into our family proves our dedication to creating fantastic new experiences.”

With the acquisition of Media Molecule today we can certainly expect future games from them, whether it’s another LBP title or a game for Arc, or is that Gem?
