The Last RemnantAny PS3 owners still looking to The Last Remnant for an RPG fix from Square Enix before Final Fantasy XIII? Wed’d hold your breath, it looks like Square are still 50-50 on a PS3 release.

Square Enix president Yoichi Wada didnt say at the companys investors meeting that the game was officially canned, but they were looking at pros and cons of releasing the game for releasing it on the PS3 due to the game not doing as well as hoped.

The game was released worldwide in November for the Xbox 360 with an April release this year on disc and Steam on the PC.

Website for Agent Goes Live, Nothing There Basically

Posted in PlayStation 3, Rockstar Games with tags , , , on June 25, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

AgentRockstar’s put online the teaser website for Agent, the brand new PLAYSTATION 3 exclusive from Dan and Houser that should be due next year. Although, the site is bare as all it shows is the logo for the game, ratings and that kind of thing with a “coming soon” underneath.

Meanwhile, Take Two president Ben Feder has been speaking to Eurogamer about the game, stating that the game will be “very fresh for gamers”.

It’s a completely different storyline, there is completely different character development. It’s a game about espionage, set in the 1970s. GTA is obviously more about an urban experience, a typically rags to riches experience. Very, very different storylines, very different character development. It’s going to be very fresh for gamers.

Well, there you go then.

MEGATON!: id Software Bought by Zenimax

Posted in Bethesda with tags , , , , , on June 24, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

idParent company of Bethesda, Zenimax has just announced that they have accuried the developer of Quake and Doom, id Software. id figureheads John Carmack and Todd Hollenshead will stay on in their roles as Technical Director and CEO of the developer.

Zenimax CEO Robert Altman said on the takeover that they “consider id Software to be among the finest game studios in the world, with extraordinary design, artistic and technical capabilities.”

We, along with many others, consider id Software to be among the finest game studios in the world, with extraordinary design, artistic and technical capabilities. They have demonstrated, repeatedly, that rare ability to create franchise properties that are critical and commercial successes. Our intention is to make sure id Software will continue to do what they do best – make AAA games. Our role will be to provide publisher support through Bethesda Softworks and give id Software the resources it needs to grow and expand

Hollenshead said on the deal that it was “a unique opportunity to team with a smart, sophisticated publisher like Bethesda.”

This was a unique opportunity to team with a smart, sophisticated publisher like Bethesda Softworks where the interests of the studio and the publisher will be fully aligned in the development and marketing of our titles.  In addition, we will now have financial and business resources to support the future growth of id Software, a huge advantage which will result in more and even better games for our fans

And as for Carmack, he stated that the deal put id in a “wonderful position”.

This puts id Software in a wonderful position going forward. We will now be able to grow and extend all of our franchises under one roof, leveraging our capabilities across multiple teams while enabling forward looking research to be done in the service of all of them.  We will be bigger and stronger, as we recruit the best talent to help us build the landmark games of the future.  As trite as it may be for me to say that I am extremely pleased and excited about this deal, I am.

The PR confirms that the development for any games in production will not be affected by the takeover, along with any publishing deals. Which means Rage will still be published by EA.

Press release is after the jump.

Posted in Famitsu, Magazine Scans, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 with tags , , , , on June 24, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

Magna Carta 2UPDATE: False alarm, it is a misprint.

We just got the scans and it shows the game as an Xbox 360 game, but not as a PS3 game. So rule it out we’re afraid. But them scans are after the jump.

Original Story: We’re still sketchy on the details as this has just come out, but the new issue of Famitsu has a feature which shows that the once Xbox 360 exclusive Magna Carta 2 is coming to PLAYSTATION 3. It is however still coming to the 360.

So far, the only proof we’ve seen of it is that it shows in the index of the magazine according to several translations that have already come out, but we are promised scans of it soon, so check back soon and we’ll update when we get them.
