We have a list here at GOONL!NE of people who we dont want to leave the games industry ever. Peter Moore, Phil Harrison, Peter Molyneux.

We can add Strauss Zenick to that list now.

The Take Two president was asked last night in the company’s Q3 financial call as to when we’d expect an formal announcement of Grand Theft Auto V. The answer?

“We’re not going to announce it. We’re not going to announce when we’re going to announce it. And we’re not going to announce the strategy about announcing it or about when we’re going to announce it either, or about the announcement strategy surrounding the announcement of the strategy.”

We love you Strauss. Don’t leave.

Infinity Ward’s YouTube channel has just released some new multiplayer footage of Modern Warfare 2, and it’s stunning. Obviously.

It shows a ‘Capture the flag’ match, in which a very skilled (or lucky) player uses a team-mate with a shield as cover, progressing through the cramped streets of Rio, taking down at least 10 men.

Full video is after the jump. Game’s out on November 10th for PS3 and 360.

New Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Video Boasts Four Player Co-op

Posted in Codemasters, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 with tags on September 1, 2009 by Chris Hawke

Dragon RisingA new video for Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising has emerged, showcasing the four-man co-op gameplay.

Once you’ve completed a mission in single-player,  you and three of your best friends (probably best to take only two, and then someone else you can blame all the deaths on) can suit up, join arms and take to the battlefield in online co-operative mode.

There are various elements like checkpoints and a 275 meter teather to keep player together and enforce teamwork, and while it isn’t drop in-drop out (if a player leaves, he is replaced by AI until the mission ends).

You’ll have all the features of the single player game at your disposal – fight over the positions of medic, riflemen, anti-tank specialists and more in the massive island of Skira, playing with all the various vehicles and weapons, and having some good times.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is out on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and availible on October 6th (US) and October the 9th (UK).

A new trailer is after the jump.

Jade Raymond Appointed as New Head of Ubisoft Toronto

Posted in Ubisoft with tags , on September 1, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

It’s been announced that Jade Raymond will take over the newly formed Ubisoft Toronto studio as it’s new head.

We personally thought it was a joke at first, but it is true.

Raymond will answer from the studio through to Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat, as she handles the studio on a day to day basis.

“I’m excited to have Jade managing our Toronto studio. With more than 12 years of experience in the video game industry, Jade’s knowledge and leadership as an industry veteran are major assets in building the Toronto studio and expanding Ubisoft’s presence in Canada,” said Mallat.

Raymond chipped in too, stating: “I’m honored to be a part of Ubisoft’s expansion into Toronto. I’m looking forward to building a strong and talented team to work on triple-A games and new intellectual properties.”

But now that she’s taken the role, what of that as to her role as executive producer to Assassins Creed II, alongside creative director Patrice Desilets? We’ve left an email with Ubi as to what the situation is.

Characters. Avatars. People. All designed by developers to have their own distinct body, face, style and personality. But what happens when two characters look rather too similar? Go Online tracks them down and makes a list. That’s what! So sit back and enjoy, as we scroll through the families the gaming industry don’t want you to know about. There’s also a lot of hats.
