Posted in Uncategorized on January 15, 2008 by Jonathan Cullen

This may mean nothing to you but for any emo’s, goth’s, chavs and all the Irish peeps who use Bebo (E.G. Me and Ryan. We fall into the Irish catagory XD) and you add game profiles instead of real life people because you have no social life, boy have I got good news.

EA have made online the profile for Burnout Paradise on Bebo so if you wanna see it (or add, pending how you are at life), check out the profile, linked below.

Burnout Paradise is out next Friday (January 25th) on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 with the Playstation 3 the lead platform on the game.

Make Some Achievements for Ninja Gaiden 2

Posted in Uncategorized on January 15, 2008 by Jonathan Cullen

Me and Brendan are bored of achievements the studios do these days. Hell, even a few of the Halo achievements are either tedious or boring. But now, help is at hand with fans asked to make achievements for Ninja Gaiden 2 for the 360. All you need to do is go to the Gamescore blog which is linked below and then suggest your achievement.

While I dont think, I’l enter, I like how Team Ninja have asked the fans to come up with good achievements instead of doing themselves. Out of the lot suggested so far, I like this one.

Chuck Norris is Proud: Roundhouse kick a beheaded foe – 50GP

Awesome XD

Ninja Gaiden 2 is an exclusive to the 360 but as Ninja Gaiden 1 was released on the PS3 recently, it wont be a forgone guess that it’ll be on the PS3 as well, but NG2 is due sometime in 2008.

Resistance 2 Unveiled

Posted in Uncategorized on January 15, 2008 by Jonathan Cullen

Over the weekend while we were prepping for launch, a holy big story emerged from the depths of hell…or Game Informer anyways. Subscribers to the magazine were awarded their latest issue last week with the world exclusive unveiling of Resistance 2. After that, reader posts details of it on NEOGaf, internet (or at least PS3 fanboys) implodes with excitement and world peace was established.

Resistance 2 doesn’t have a proper name/subtitle yet but it’s rumored to be Resistance 2: Rise of Man and boy, after Fall of Man, it has a fair bit to live up to. Once again, you play as Nathan Hale, the US Sergent who you played as in the last game taking on the Chimera, a race of aliens who had taken over in a 40’s Europe where World War II never happened in Fall of Man. And juddging by the cover on the issue of Game Informer, they’re in America this time.

Something you’ll notice is that Hale’s eye’s are now glowing red. I wont go into it as you need to play the end of Fall of Man to get it but it will play a crucial part in the story. Speaking of the story, there will be 2 seperate stories for the game. One single player or 2 player offline co-op play through Nathan Hale’s campaign. Or players can go through a seperate story for which details werent announced as far as that story goes BUT it has get this, 8 player co-op…ONLINE! So yeah, 4 players more then the co-op on Halo 3.

As for online, in Fall of Man, 40 people was alot but very rare to see online (Most you’d get is 30 – 35) during Fall of Man. Well…how does 60 people sound? Yes, thats right. Shall I put that into context for you?

60!

PEOPLE!

ONLINE!

Thats way too big but beggers cant be choosers so surely thats a good thing. Online will also be classed based, ala, Team Fortress 2 with Heavy Weapons, Special Ops and Sniper. Insomniac who make the Ratchet & Clank games as well as Resistance 1 are behind it again although to be fair, they made a 7/10 game with Fall of Man but now that the PS3 has been out for a while, it’ll mean that this could be a blockbuster AAA hit for Insomniac like their other game, Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction & Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

Sony have said anything about it yet but they most likely will say something on at next month’s GDC in San Francisco. Otherwise, if they dont, it’s gonna be a long wait for E3…

Resistance 2 is apparently due out at the end of 2008.

Betas, eh? You wanna get into them so much just to find out whats going on in with your favourite game yet you should be use your time in it for checking bugs and glitches. And even then, you embargoed to say anything about it because your forced to sign a NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) until the release of the game.

Say for example, Halo 3. The online multiplayer beta was open pending that you were selected at random by going on Bungie to sign up, played 36 hours of Halo 2 and caught the eye of Bungie or that you bought a copy of Crackdown. In the end though, it was success. Meantime, as well as the MP beta, alpha testers were putting the single player code through its pace via downloading part of the game through Xbox Live.

But that part of the game got leaked and it was downloaded by a few hundred people…and boy, did Xbox Live throw down the banhammer. The person who leaked it in the 1st place got banned for, get this, 999,999,999 years. No, I’m not shitting you, he actually did get banned during that length of time. While the people who downloaded it got a slap on the wrist and a weeks ban.

Here’s another example: PlayStation Home.

Everybody has heard of it since GDC last year, we even posted the launch video on our YouTube page.

Right now on the SCEE forums, its the reason why most people on the forums want to become a beta. And yes, I too want to become a beta, but not for Home and whatnot. Ever since a open beta was announced, people on them forums have been hanging on a knifeedge wondering what next would happen because no open beta has been come round yet. Plus, SCEE have been somewhat recruiting new betas without making public knowlage of it.

Yesterday, I PMed the main beta honcho and community mod on the SCEE forums, BetaBoy, about this. Here’s what I wrote to him.

Hello to you.

I hope you dont take this the wrong way or out of context but I was wondering something.

As of late, lots of members have been recruited for beta without everyone else known. And yet, the thing is, there hasn’t been a public beta announced as such since the MP element of Killzone Liberation for the PSP and fair enough, there hasn’t been much of public betas as of late.

But recruitng new beta’s without announcing anything seems a bit distrusting doesn’t it yet people have been putting their names down in the Beta thread although, I will say you cant go through everyone so fair enough.

And now, this isnt me asking to become a beta, just a slight rant (Although if I was given the option ), but a bit of honesty wouldn’t be a miss. I’m not saying full disclosure of beta like (Stupid of me to say that because of the NDA’s) but disclosure of like the most recent beta recruits.

What do you think about it? And if this does seem a bit intrusive, then please do forgive me and accept my most sincere apologies.

JC.

And while I did get a reply, I wont post it for private reasons. I will say this though, if you think they have it bad now for Home, wait until the online MP of Killzone 2 or the beta for Little Big Planet or Socom: Us Navy Seals: Controntation. They’ll be screaming to get out of their jobs.

In the end, its worth point out that while having a little fun in beta’s is alright, it certainly mostly isn’t fun and games. Its a long hawl and while I would like a pretty little B beside my name on the SCEE forums, its not going to be pretty when you see the glamor to it in all honesty.

Naughty Dog: More to Come from Us for the PS3, Especially Uncharted 2

Posted in Uncategorized on January 15, 2008 by Jonathan Cullen

Note to Ryan and Brendan: If you want one to convince you to buy a PS3, it’s Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. Yeah, I have alot of games for PS3 and some are great (Ratchet and Clank, Warhawk), some are good (Singstar, Motorstorm) and others are alright or…meh (F1, Heavenly Sword).

But Uncharted is in a class of its own. Right now, it’s the best game the system has and the game that every PS3 owner must have.

Why I’m saying this?

Well, Naughty Dog the makers of Uncharted, as well as Jak & Daxter & Crash Bandicoot before floogging it off to Vivindi to make the series crap, have been talking to That VideoGame Blog about it but have said there is still more in the tank for Naughty Dog as far as the PS3 is concerned.

Naughty Dog Co President, Evan Wells:

Uncharted was definitely designed to be a franchise, so this game is just the first in an ongoing series of adventures. We’ve already started having meetings to see what worked best in production and finding the areas that need improvement. We’ve also only just started brainstorming on ideas for our next project. Nothing has been solidified yet.

Great, now all we need is a new Jak and Daxter…then I’l settle for Uncharted 2…but I want Naughty Dog to buy back the Crash Bandicoot franchise :( Its was awesome until Universal bought the series :(

He also confirmed in the interview that Uncharted will be implomenting Playstation Home when it’s released but confirms that as of yet, there is no DLC on the way for Drake’s Fortune.

2 New Games from Team ICO on the way, 25 Unannounced Exclusives Coming for Playstation 3

Posted in Uncategorized on January 15, 2008 by Jonathan Cullen

Now, I for one, dont post storys from blogs or whatnot unless they have a crediable source. And yes, I may have been controdicting myself there whatever. But this is posted for 2 things.

1 – It sounds plausable
2 – They’re one of the biggest fansites on the subject

According to Team ICO Gamers, there are 2 new games on the way from Team ICO, the developer behind the brillant Ico and the highly acclaimed Shadow of the Colossus, both for Playstation 2, are making 2 new games exclusively for Playstation 3.

Alex Rowe, Webmaster of Team ICO Gamers:

Yesterday in a heated IM discussion about which of the three console makers is going to have the strongest line-up this year, a friend of mine who works at Sony Computer Entertainment Japan blurted out that Sony’s internal studios have up their sleeves more than 20 yet-to-be-revealed projects for PlayStation 3.

Intrigued by this I asked if he could give me some examples. Project Siren (makers of the Forbidden Siren franchise), Team Saru (creators of the Ape Escape series) and Team ICO are three of the studios who’re getting ready to reveal their new projects this year. After some more pushing, he told me that all he knows about Team ICO is that the team is working on two games, both for PS3.

My guess now is that Team ICO is indeed working on two games, none of which is for PSP. Most probably one is for PSN (hence the need of staff specialized in networking technology) and the other is headed for a Blu-ray disc release.

Like he also said in his post, new projects from Project Siren and Team Saru are coming which means that Forbidden Siren 3 and Ape Escape 5 could be on the way for the PS3.

He also said there being 20 yet to be unrevealed games. If you include them 20, plus Team Saru, Project Siren and Team ICO’s games, you’ve got a list of 125 exclusives from 1st party (Sony) and 3rd party games combined (Konami, Ubisoft etc…), released, unrelased or unannounced.

Hmm, pretty interesting…

The Anouncement That Every Nintendo Fanboy Will Hate!

Posted in Uncategorized on January 14, 2008 by Jonathan Cullen

It’s being reported by a number of websites that the best game ever and made Nintendo’s N64 one of the consoles every made is going to….Xbox Live. Do you know the title yet. The title is Goldeneye 007. Yes Nintendo fanboys look away now because it is being reported by Xbox Evolved that an agreement has been reached between Microsoft, MGM, Activision and Rare so the game may and could appear on Xbox Live in the future.

But not to worry fellow fanboys it is unlikey that Microsoft will keep it as an exclusive if this report is true. I don’t think Microsoft will totally have it and may allow it to Nintendo for it’s VC because of the massive numbers of Nintendo Wii users (myself included) who want the game to appear on the VC. Nintendo have already approached the right channels and people to get the title on the VC and for the title to stay with the company who made the title what it is today and if it is true and does infact appear on Xbox Live, the fans of the game who stuck with Nintendo will riot until they put it on. No i’m only joking. It may appear on VC if it does appear on Xbox Live. Don’t take my word for it. It’s just wishful thinking.
