Everybody Hates Chris Actor to Voice Character in Final Fantasy XIII

Posted in Final Fantasy XIII, PlayStation 3, Square Enix, Xbox 360 with tags , , , on July 30, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

Final Fantasy XIIIWell, color us interested.

This past week, Famitsu put out ten brand new screens of Final Fantasy XIII, putting emphesis on a brand new party character for the game, now known as Hope Estheim. Catch the screens over there, but it seems that the voice actor of the character in the English speaking version of the game will be Everybody Hates Chris actor, Vincent Martella.

The actor, who plays Greg in the semi-official biopic TV show of comedian, Chris Rock, had the role come up in his portfolio, although if you look for it now, the listing is gone from his website.

Ta, UFFS.

gears-of-war-21It’s official now: the DLC for Gears of War 2, Dark Corners and All Fronts, is out now on Xbox Live Marketplace.

Meanwhile, All Fronts, which is Dark Corners as well as all 3 of the previous multiplayer map packs, will set you back 1600 MS points and comes in at roughly 700MB.

We reviewed the All Fronts DLC on Sunday, is it worth 1600 MS bones?

Splinter Cell: Conviction & Red Steel 2 Delayed Until 2010

Posted in Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, Ubisoft, Xbox 360 with tags , , , , , , , on July 28, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

splinter-cell-convictionUbisoft has announced a delay in Splinter Cell: Conviction & Red Steel 2.

Originally due for this autumn, both games are now going to be released at some point during January – March 2010. As well as Conviction and Red Steel 2, I Am Alive and Ghost Recon 4 also suffered much longer delays of fiscal 2010 – 2011, which means both games wont see a release until April 2010.

That’s despite we’ve heard very little of I Am Alive, with only one magazine article and a teaser trailer, and we haven’t  even seen footage of Ghost Recon 4 yet.

Ubisoft president, Yves Guillemot, said that the delays for Conviction and RS2 was down to giving both games more time for pollishment.

“The changes on Splinter Cell and Red Steel – it’s just a question of polish,” said the Ubi pres.

“The team was asking that they couldn’t be with the level of quality on all the maps and all the game for the end of the year, so they had asked for more time to be able to come with a better product, for both of those games.

“The quality of the games is there for what you’ve been able to see at E3, but we were not able to have that same quality on the full game of those two product.”

Shame, we gave Conviction our Best of E3 2009 award.

RUMOR: Peter Molyneux to Head Up gamescom Microsoft Press Conference

Posted in GamesCOM - Cologne 2009, Microsoft Games Studios, Xbox 360 with tags , , , on July 28, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

Molyneux & NatalTick this as a rumor for now, but according to reports, Peter Molyneux will be heading up a press conference by Microsoft Games Studios at gamescom next month.

According to GamingFront (via CVG), the head of Lionhead, and lead creative director of Microsoft Games Studios, will be heading up the press conference when it (apparently) takes place on August 19th from 11amCET, hours before SCEE’s press conference on the very same day.

Also according to the German website, who aren’t rarely wrong, Molyneux has a big announcement to make at the conference. Is it to do with his new role and show us a new Rare game, the rumored Natal game from them? Or is it to do with Milo & Kate, or better yet, Natal itself?

This is actually the first we’ve heard of a press conference from MS as this is the first conference they’ve done in Europe, they never went to Leipzig, let alone hold a press conference there. So, naturally, we’ve emailed Microsoft for more details on the matter.

Final Fantasy XIIISquare Enix has announced that it’ll be bringing Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIV to gamescom in Cologne next month.

It’s the first time Square Enix will be at the event under the monkier, Square Enix Europe, since the company’s buyout of Eidos earlier in the year. Batman: Arkham Asylum, Front Mission Evolved and Mini Ninjas are a couple of other games on the list that will be in Cologne next month.

“We are delighted to be a part of GamesCom 2009,” said Phil Rogers, the new CEO of Square Enix Europe.

“As the largest European games show it is the perfect event for our newly created European organisation to showcase the combined strength of our product line up for the very first time.”

Full PR is after the jump.
