New Final Fantasy Versus XIII Trailer Shown at Jump Fiesta

Posted in PlayStation 3, Square Enix with tags , on December 19, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

According to Andriasang (via FF-XIII.net), a new trailer of Final Fantasy Versus XIII was shown at Jump Fiesta overnight.

Not much details of the trailer is known thus  far, but from what has been said already. The trailer does start with main character Noctis been picked up from the highway before the car speeds away. We don’t know more then what’s already been said other then that.

However, there are three important things to consider:

1) The trailer was shown in real time.
2) It was shown at Square’s Closed Mega Theatre.

But the most important thing of all is what was said at the end of the trailer:

“Revelation will come next time.”

We want this next trailer… NOW!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will release when the world is coming to an end, exclusively to the PlayStation 3.

GOONL!NE Advent Calendar 2010: #12 – Alan Wake

Posted in Microsoft Games Studios, Xbox 360 with tags , on December 19, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

By Jonathan Cullen.

There has been many games in development  for a long time, with several of them announced in 2oo5. Arguably, Gran Turismo 5 and Red Dead Redemption is two of them games, but probably the biggest of the lot is almost certainly Alan Wake.

While Gran Turismo 5 has had several demos and GT5: Prologue released, with Rockstar working on several projects before RDR, Alan Wake was probably the game that has gone MIA the most this generation. But finally, it seems, we WILL get our hands on Remedy’s new IP next year.

The question is can Alan Wake really be the game it promised to be four years ago?

Posted in Final Fantasy XIII, PlayStation 3, Square Enix, Xbox 360 with tags on December 18, 2009 by James Love

We all knew Final Fantasy XIII would be big, and today Square Enix have announced the sales figures from Japan to back it up, with the game shifting over 1 million copies in its first 24 hours of being on shelves.

The sales figures though don’t include the Lightning Edition PS3 bundle, so if you were to include those the figure would be slightly higher.

GOONL!NE Advent Calander 2010: #11 – Red Dead Redemption

Posted in PlayStation 3, Rockstar Games, Xbox 360 with tags , on December 18, 2009 by Chris Hawke

By Will Swarbrick.

It was Niko’s walk that really got me in GTA IV. The way the immigrant swaggered, shoulders rolling, feet pumping the ground, leaning into each corner. It put so much character into something as simple as walking; you knew, right from the start, he was here to chew gum and kick ass.

So, Red Dead Redemption is leisurely strolling to our consoles, and the walk is back, albeit changed slightly. Arms slightly outstretched, large, unnatural sides, palms facing backwards, and a look that’s melt and burn butter simultaneously.

Final Fantasy XIII Launches in Japan

Posted in Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII Japanese Launch Portal, PlayStation 3, Square Enix, Xbox 360 on December 17, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

After years and months of waiting, Final Fantasy XIII has launched in Japan.

Square Enix has apparently confirmed that under 2 million units of the game has shipped to retailers in the country (thanks, UFFS), including those bundled with the Lightning and Sazh PS3 bundles that were also released, although numbers for how many bundles have shipped are unknown.

We wont get the early sales numbers for the game until possibly Friday most likely. As far as the hardware goes, for which FFXIII is expected to push PS3 sales into space, we’ll know the first indications on Friday when Media-Create releases the hardware numbers for the week, which should give the first indications.

We wont know the full effect of what the game has done in the MC software charts, as the game’s release was too late to be counted for the latest charts released earlier this morning.

The game won’t be releasing in the West until Tuesday March 9th 2010 for PS3 and Xbox 360. We’ve imported our copy of the game, so we’ll be sure to write some first impressions and maybe capture even the first 20 minutes. Stay tuned, sports fans.

For now, check our No# 10 of our 2010 Advent Calendar, which is Final Fantasy XIII today.
