BBC to jump into gaming

Posted in Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 with tags on January 21, 2010 by James Love

The BBC have told MCV that they are “open to conversations with anybody in games” in a bid to capitalise ever growing gaming market, with major platforms such as the Wii being targeted to newer ones such as Facebook and the iPhone.

Neil Ross Russell stated that “Outside of Disney we have the most well-known line-up of children’s characters around the world.” However, Ross Russell maintains it’s not all about money, “What we’re trying to do is build the brands here – this is not about opportunistic licensing. If we wanted to do that we would have done more with these key brands over the last few years.”

Mass Effect 3 coming to Xbox 360

Posted in EA, Xbox 360 with tags , on January 20, 2010 by James Love

With not long now until the launch of Mass Effect 2, BioWare have already begun stoking the flames of the third game in the series by confirming it will be developed for the Xbox 360.

When asked about if the third Mass Effect game would be on the 360,  BioWare’s Casey Hudson told GameZone:

“That was always the intention. The Xbox 360 obviously is the one that’s going to run out of time at some point but you create your character and play through an entire trilogy on that platform.”

Whilst a PlayStation 3 version is not unlikely (it was not long ago that Greg Zeschuk said the PS3 was a “key platform”) it seems that for the meantime the sci-fi trilogy will remain on Microsoft platforms.

Mass Effect 2 launches January 26th in the USA and January 29th in Europe.

Stunning LBP Contraptions Show The Game Is Still Alive And Kicking

Posted in PlayStation 3 with tags , , on January 19, 2010 by Chris Hawke

As much as we hate to say it; LittleBigPlanet is getting on a bit. After picking up many awards in ’08, it just isn’t fit for purpose in the new decade, and after all, no-one plays it…right?

Wrong. So, so wrong. See, over on the EU Playstation Forums, a group of LBP fans have banded together to see who can build the best bridge-crossing machine. While most people could hardly work out how to place a switch in the Design Mode, these guys and gals have made some truly stunning contraptions, all in working order and looking pretty funky. It’s pretty hard to get more epic.

You can join the Contraption Challenge here, and the video is after the jump.
