By Jonathan Cullen.

Square Enix has finally announced the respective release dates for the Western release of Final Fantasy XIII.

It’ll come on March 9th 2010 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, in a EU-US sim-ship.

The Japanese release date was announced back in September at a premiere party. The game releases in Japan on December 17th for the PS3.

“This is truly a landmark title, arriving simultaneously for multiple platforms for the first time in the history of the series. We are also immensely proud to be able to bring the game to the European and PAL audience much earlier than was publically anticipated,” said Square Enix Europe CEO, Phil Rogers.

We gave the game earlier this year the title of “GOONL!NE’s Most Anticipated Title of 2009“, and needless to say, this won’t disappoint.

A new trailer was also released. You can watch that above, but you can also view it at a decent size here.

Oh, and Leona Lewis has been picked to do the theme song.

Press release is after the jump.

Final Fantasy XIIISpeaking in an interview with a French gaming publication, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada has given the clearest indication that we’l be seeing Final Fantasy XIII in Europe a lot sooner then previously thought.

“We get our future productions almost simultaneously. However, regarding the games that are being developed and whose output is imminent, I think the delays are already much shorter than before,” said the Square pres.

As for Final Fantasy XIII, at a time when we speak, we have not yet decided on its release date in the world. But I think we can get him out much earlier than imagined by European players.”

Wada also confirmed the game will recieve DLC.

“For Final Fantasy XIII, it will not change much. We always include downloadable content when we make our games.”

And as for the FFVII remake:

“We do not currently carry it out. But our developers dream of doing it. Unfortunately we have no intention of doing so yet.”

There you have it.

A massive Final Fantasy XIII announcement is expected today. What could it be?

BioWare Still Refuse to Confirm or Deny Mass Effect 2 PS3

Mass Effect 2BioWare has one again refused to either confirm or deny that they are working on a PlayStation 3 version of Mass Effect 2, insisting that they have only announced it thus far for the Xbox 360 and PC.

“Always lots of rumours, but we’ve announced basically it’s coming to Xbox 360 and PC, and thats all we’re talking about,” said BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka, speaking in the latest GTTV.

Followed up again and asked if a PS3 version was ruled ou, other BioWare co-founder, Greg Zeschuck said:

“We’re not saying anything.”

Make of that as you will.

For now, it’s out on the 360 from January 2010.

BioWare Confirms DLC Support for Mass Effect 2

Posted in EA, Xbox 360 with tags , , on November 13, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

ME2Speaking in the latest GTTV, project director for Mass Effect 2 Casey Hudson has revealed there will be DLC support for the game.

The first Mass Effect only received two DLC packs since it’s release in 2007, Bring Down the Sky in 2008 and Pinnacle Station only this year. But it seems ME2 will be supported much better this time in terms of DLC.

“As part of trying to build [Mass Effect 1], as ambitious as it was, one of the things we werent able to do technically was to have the support in the game itself for certain kinds of downloadable content, so either it had to be a huge pack or nothing essentially was the issue,” said Hudson.

“So now, we’ve gone through and made sure that it’s technically possible to do a whole range of different kinds of downloads. Once we’re done working on Mass Effect 2, pretty much the whole team switches into working on really cool downloadable content. And then, we like to listen what fan feedback is for where do you want to go, what kind of things do you want to see.”

The game is out on January 23rd in the US and January 27th in the UK for the Xbox 360.
