Halo: Reach to Get World Premiere at VGAs 2009

Let the ‘tons begin.

Keighley’s that Halo: Reach will get a world premiere at the Spike VGAs next month.

“The world premiere of HALO: REACH happens only at the 2009 Video Game Awards, Live 12/12 on Spike.”

The game was premiered at E3 in June. It releases in Autumn 2010, with a multiplayer beta also to happen.

Supreme Commander 2 Gets a Spring 2010 Release

Square Enix Europe has tagged the European release of Supreme Commander 2 for Spring 2010.

It’ll be one of the first games released under the Square Enix brand since it’s takeover of Eidos in April this year, although it’s unknown if it’ll launch before March 9th, when Final Fantasy XIII launches in the West.

“I couldn’t be more proud of what the team has accomplished, as the game has continually exceeded all of my expectations throughout its development,” said developer, Gas Powered leader Chris Taylor.

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days Officially Announced

We all knew it was coming, but it’s only just been officially announced; Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days.

New multiplayer modes, as well as a story that takes place in the Shanghai underworld. It’s out in 2010 for PS3 and 360.

Would You Pay For Modern Warfare 2 Online?

Speaking to GameCentral,  Activision has been talking about using a similar subscription model to games like World Of WarCraft for Call Of Duty, claiming that paying for online features is a result of fan demand.

“Our gamers are telling us there’s lots of services and innovation they would like to see that they’re not getting yet,” they said. “There is demand from the core gamers to pay up for that.”

Metal Gear Solid Coming To EU PSN This Week

Metal Gear Solid is finally coming to the EU PlayStation Store this week, months after it’s release on the NA and Japanese stores.

PlayStation Store Team Member Mike Kebby wrote on his page  “EU PS Store will see some Snake related goodness this week – yup, MGS is a coming.”

The game will retail at £7.99/€9.99, and will be on the Store this Thursday.

New Final Fantasy XIII Screens Released

FFXIII ChocoboSome new direct-feed shots of Final Fantasy XIII has been released by Square Enix, via Famitsu. They appear to be the screens from the released scans from this week’s issue of the magazine. They do mostly show Hope, Chocobos and Vanille riding on one. That doesn’t sound right, does it?

The game is out in Japan on December 17th for the PlayStation 3. Square confirmed yesterday that the game will release in the West in an EU-US sim-ship, for the PS3 and Xbox 360, on Tuesday March 9th 2010.

New Tofu and Costumes for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles Revealed

In celebration of Friday the 13 th, Capcom have announced that tofu mode is back in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles as an unlockable mode in the game.  But this time there is a twist… instead of taking on the character of tofu, you now shoot the tofu! Without giving away too much and spoil it, you’d be out the latest action-packed trailer after the jump.

Also there is a new video that reveals some of the unique unlockable costumes from the game.   These new assets are just a taste of what you can expect in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles which launches Tuesday November 17th 2009 on the Nintendo Wii.

Modern Warfare 2 Shatters Sales Records

Activision have announced today that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has become the biggest launch in history across all forms of entertainment with estimated sales of $310 million in North America and the United Kingdom alone in the first 24 hours, according to internal Activision estimates.

Modern Warfare 2 was released on Tuesday November 10th, to worldwide fanfare across the globe, including over 10,000 retail outlets in the U.S. alone which held midnight openings to meet consumer demand. In its first day it sold around 4.7 million copies in just North America and the United Kingdom, again according to Activision estimates.

“The Call of Duty franchise has become a cultural phenomenon showing the power of video games as an entertainment medium,” said Mike Griffith, CEO of Activision. “The shattering of these entertainment records is a testament to the compelling, cinematic and uniquely engaging experience that the Call of Duty brand delivers.
