Quantic Dream: Heavy Rain Demo on the Way

Posted in PlayStation 3, PlayStation Network, PlayStation Store with tags , on November 3, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

Heavy Rain 2

Speaking to G4, Quantic Dream’s David Cage has revealed that there will be a demo on the way for Heavy Rain before it’s release next year.

He however said that they were looking at which point in the game to pick as the demo.

“We are currently working on a demo, which is a real challenge. Finding one scene that can convey what we are trying to achieve with Heavy Rain is something really difficult,” said Cage.

“If we show an action scene, some players will think that this is what Heavy Rain is all about, and it is the same thing if we show an exploration scene. The problem is that each scene of the game offers contextual game play, which is something very difficult to explain and convey in a single demo.”

Exciting. The game is out next year for the PS3.

Star Trek MMO Coming To The PS3?

Posted in Atari, PlayStation 3 with tags , on November 2, 2009 by James Love

star trek online

Games consoles are still generally untouched from the genre that is the MMO so far this generation, but this job application over at Cryptic Studios strongly hints at their upcoming MMO, Star Trek Online, could well be coming to the PS3.

The game was always confirmed for the PC and was said to be coming to “consoles” but which one(s) was never specified, and this job posting does strengthen the rumours that the game could well be making it’s way to the PS3.

RUMOR: New Price Of Persia To Be Announced Next Spring

Prince of Persia

It’ll be a year next month since the last Prince of Persia game launched, and any of you out there looking for a sequel are in luck. Over at Neoseeker, they’ve previewed the upcoming Prince Of Persia film, but at the end of their article left this little snippit;

“Our last bit of news is a juicy one: Ubisoft will be announcing a new Prince of Persia game in the spring, according to the team, but it’s not their place to give out any details.”

When approached by CVG, Ubisoft didn’t deny that a new Prince of Persia game will be getting a Spring reveal, as an Ubi rep replied to CVG with a swift “no comment.”

The movie is due out in North America on May 28th, so if there is to be an announcement, expect it around then.

Continuous Play To Be Available Again ‘In 3 Months’

Posted in GOONL!NE Stuff, PlayStation 3, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios with tags on November 2, 2009 by Chris Hawke

ps3 slim

Continuous Play, which is basically insurance for your Playstation 3, is set to be up and running again for new customers in 3 months, a PlayStation representative told GOONL!NE.

The Continuous Play scheme stopped taking on new customers in the middle of 2009, due to ‘fraudsters’ abusing the system. All you needed to do was pay roughly £5 a month, and if your PS3 were to get the dreaded Yellow Light, Sony would replace it free of charge. While an exact date was not given, the representative said that the service would be widely available “shortly, about 3 months or so.”

Good news for all those worrying about the health of their console, then.
