Kojima To Create New Game After MGS Rising and Peace Walker

Posted in Konami, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 with tags , on October 16, 2009 by James Love

kojima

Say the name Hideo Kojima to a gamer and what’ll spring to mind is Metal Gear for most. His legacy is huge, spanning almost 20 titles to date but after he’s finished with Metal Gear Solid: Rising and Peace Walker, that’s him done and dusted with the series.

Speaking to the EU PlayStation Blog, Kojima offered some insight into what he has planned for the future:

“It will be kind of too late if I start thinking about after I’ve finished with Peace Walker and Rising. I’ll probably have to plan before. But I always want to do my next original title and that’s always on my mind. And, as I said before, I could kind of produce some other titles such as Zone of the Enders and I will like to plan that doing the producer side and also creating my original new title.”

Metal Gear Solid: Rising will launch on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 but the release date is still TBA.

RUMOR: Mass Effect 2 “probably” Coming to PS3, Says BioWare

Posted in EA, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 with tags , , on October 16, 2009 by Chris Hawke

Mass Effect 5

Take with a pinch of salt, as always.

At a Polish Gaming Event (from Polygamia), Bioware employee Jay Watamanyuk, who is a writer on Mass Effect 2, said that the game would be for Xbox 360, PC and “probably the PS3.” However, Watamanyuk then reverted to the old speech of “The studio doesn’t comment on rumors and speculation.”

Heh.

The game’s out on the Xbox 360 in January  2010.

Borderlands DLC Announced and Priced

Posted in 2k Games, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 with tags , on October 16, 2009 by Chris Hawke

Borderlands

And the game isn’t even out yet.

2K Games have detailed and priced the upcoming DLC for the…upcoming Borderlands. Seeing as the DLC costs $9.99, it’s odd to announce it when gamers are just about to part ways with a good fistful of their savings. Still, if the trailers are anything to go by, Borderlands + More Borderlands = Awesome.

Press release and screenshots after the jump, and the game can be snatched on October 20th.

Posted in Journalism and Media with tags , , , , , on October 16, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

GMAsIt was a great night for VG247 as the site won three Games Media Awards in London last night.

The site won Best Games Blog, but the night truly belonged to editor Patrick Garratt. He walked away not just with Best Specalist Writer (Web), but also came home with Games Media Legend. Legend indeed, innit.

Eurogamer walked away with Best Website, One Life Left recieved the Best Broadcast, Edge got Best Magazine and The Guardian won Best Coverage in a Newspaper. Find the full list of winners after the jump.

And we’ve written a nice tribute to Pat Garratt. All with reason, of course. Find it here, from the Editors Blog.

Splinter Cell: Conviction – Flexible Interrogations Video

Posted in Ubisoft, Xbox 360 with tags , on October 15, 2009 by Chris Hawke

Splinter Cell Conviction 2

There’s a new video for Sam Fisher, and it’s wonderful.

The video shows Sam using the Mark and Execute mechanic, Sonar Goggles, interrogations (Which look incredibly fluid and utterly stunning), as well as the return of the Sticky Cam, which now seems to pack a miniature WMD inside.

Frankly, there’s nothing we can say to do the video justice. You’ll just have to gawk at it yourself. The game’s out on Xbox 360 on the 23rd of February, all the way in 2010.
