brink

Hot off the press, and here they are! 4 brand new shots of Bethesda’s upcoming FPS, Brink.

The game is set in a city called The Ark which was a “vision of the future” and is the pinnacle of science and engineering combined to form a perfect city, free of pollution and utilising renewable energy, but with the population spiralling out of control, The Ark has reached the brink (hence the game’s title) of all-out civil war.

Brink is set for release Spring 2010 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

New Sony Playstation Eye Video – Become An Anime Chick/Cow

Posted in PlayStation 3 with tags , on September 10, 2009 by Chris Hawke

ps3

It’s true, we tell you

In a YouTube video by the ultra shady DigInfo (Skynet, anyone?) shows the PS Eye strutting its stuff.

It’s called the Vision Library; you shove your face directly into the machine, it saves it, then tracks your movements, replacing your fleshy sack of a head with something nicer – a cute Anime girl, or a cow, for example. It also recognizes when you close your eyes, allowing you to wink. Yep; the future is here.

Beatles Rock Band

By Jonathan Cullen

So 9/9/09 has passed.

Nothing catastrophic has happened. In fact, even if it was just for a day, music was reborn with The Beatles.

Their 13 remastered albums hit shops yesterday from Rubber Soul, Yellow Submarine and The White Album to Sgt Pepper, Let it Be and my personal favourite, Abbey Road. But of course, we’re here to cover The Beatles: Rock Band, the first band specific Rock Band game from Harmonix.

Just to clarify, this ain’t a review. This is actually to tell you how GOONL!NE is celebrating Paul, John, George and Ringo.

Top 9: I Can’t Believe They’re Not Video Games!

Uber Photoshopping skills/I can't believe

Honestly! It’s just unbelievable! In this capitalist world, all the fat cats in big suits want more money down their pants (I assume that’s what rich people do with money), and are willing to milk the teat of an IP or franchise until said teat is withered and dry (Sorry for the horrible imagery).

Hey, just look at Star Wars – bobbleheads, lunch boxes, animations, comics – it’s still going strong and people are still coughing up nickels and dimes for a quick flash of a lightsaber. So, why don’t these films take the logical step and become video games?

Instead of putting down a cluster of shooters as films, I’ve tried to collect a movie for each genre (strategy, racer, fighter). So, if you’re favorite movie isn’t down there, it’s probably because the spot is taken by a film with an easily malleable plotline and gameplay.

Assassin’s Creed II Walkthrough Video

Posted in PlayStation 3, Ubisoft, Xbox 360 with tags , on September 9, 2009 by Chris Hawke

assassins-creed-2

Well, here we are. It doesn’t seem like a lot has changed in the Assassin Universe since we were last in the Holy Land, but despite looking kinda similar, Italy is a whole world away.

To start, you have a brand new economics system, allowing you to buy things like poison, for very cinematic assassinations. Then, you have a gun. Seriously. A miniature ‘lady-gun’ hidden in your glove; use it sparingly to take out distant foes. And then there’s just Italy. It looks incredible. It’s much the same as Altair’s land, but everything has slight upgrades – the way the crowd moves, or the shadows cast by the sun.

Get your sweaty hands on the disc 17th November, then cry deeply. Video after the jump.

Today, EA Sports have announced that the Live Season mode of FIFA 10 has been expanded and enhanced,  giving more depth and realism. Now Live Season will encompass and mirror events that occur in real life, not just player form now. Say for example Manchester United are travelling to play Blackburn Rovers and Rooney is injured, this will now have an effect in the game too, along with any who are suspended too.

Additionally, transfers (unless you happen to be Chelsea), league standings and fixtures will all be taken into account too in the revampled Live Season mode.

The full press release is after the jump.

RUMOR: Gran Turismo 5 Release Date Revealed

Posted in PlayStation 3, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios with tags , , on September 9, 2009 by David Pitchforth

GT5

People have been wondering when Gran Turismo 5 will be released for so long now that sites will post almost any rumour they get their hands on. This one however comes with perhaps a little bit more authenticity to it.

According to Playstation Beyond the long-awaited racer will be released in the UK on 25th September 2009. They received word from an “extremely reliable source” within Sony, though of course only time will tell exactly how reliable their source actually is.

The date does however fall alongside the Tokyo Game Show, and with the PS3 Slim only just being released, it does make sense to release the game sooner rather than later to try and push the Slim sales as high as possible, especially as Christmas isn’t that far away. As soon as we get some official word from Sony about this we’ll be sure to let you all know.

The game will be there on the showfloor in playable form.

Final Fantasy XIII – Serah Revealed

Posted in Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII Japanese Launch Portal, PlayStation 3, Square Enix, Xbox 360 with tags , , , on September 9, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

FFXIII SerahSome HD footage of Final Fantasy XIII was shown on Japanese  TV overnight, which showed for the first time the character Serah.

She’s been mentioned before in the Kickoff trailer in January, as well as the Jump Fiesta trailer with the release of Advent Children Complete in the US. But she hasn’t featured in a trailer until now.

According to reports going around the web (we dont know if this true or not. Maybe our brain is pulling tricks), Serah is Snow’s missus and is the one “who saved us” according to Snow in the two trailers mentioned.

Get the footage after the jump. Game was confirmed for December 17th in Japan yesterday.

Thanks to UFFS for the asset.
