RedLynx: “Far too early” in Deciding a PSN/WiiWare Version of Trials HD

Trials HDPSN or WiiiWare users, sitting on the windowsill for a Trials HD version for your respective console? You may sit there a little while longer yet possibly.

RedLynx CEO Tero Virtala has exclusively said to GOONL!NE that it’s “far too early” in deciding whenever there will be a PSN or WiiWare version of the game or any other possible Trials game for that matter, stating that they’re only focusing on the upcoming DLC for the game.

“It’s far too early to say anything on the future steps with Trials. We are still focusing on Trials HD and on the DLC coming,” said Virtala.

“In general, we’ve been really positively taken how fluent the development has been for XBLA, tools were in really good order, the Microsoft people truly were both gamers and experts in their own fields and gave us excellent support during the development. And of course Xbox Live at the same providers a big user base, so also commercial success is a very realistic possibility at Xbox Live. So continuing with Trials in general on XBLA is definitely a strong alternative.”

What We Want From… Medal Of Honor 2

Posted in PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 with tags , , , , , , , on September 3, 2009 by Chris Hawke

Medal of HonorIn this article, we look at what we’d like from a new entry into the longstanding series, and how it can break away from the pack of ‘mediocre’ FPSs.

In fact, mediocrity seems to be the selling point for MOH games these days – most of the shooters have received slews of 5s and 6s, with only the original Medal Of Honor and Medal Of Honor: Frontline being crowned The Best FPSs of their time – their time being 1999 and 2002 respectively.

How can the series clean up its act and regain its Honor? (See what I did there? Classic.)

Interview by Jonathan Cullen.

In August of this year, RedLynx released Trials HD for the Xbox 360 through Xbox Live Arcade.

It was a surprising yet worthy success for the game as it is brillant. We loved it too: we gave it a 9.

But not wanting our love affair with RedLynx to end, we had the great offer of interviewing CEO Tero Virtala and creative director Antti Ilvessuo to see what their thoughts were on stuff like Natal or the PlayStation Motion Controller, DLC and a possible Trials game for the PSN or WiiWare, as well as talk about the success of the game.

Through the jump, and all shall be revealed.

Kojima: Rising and Peace Walker Teams Dont Get Along

Posted in PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 with tags , , , on September 2, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

Rising 2Fisticuffs at the ready.

Hideo Kojima has revealed that teams behind Metal Gear Solid: Rising and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker don’t get along too well.

Why? We’ll let Koj explain from here:

“The reason why I say they are not good friends is because the PSP is working day and night to make it even better than MGS4, but of course they can’t do it because of a lot of restrictions. On the other hand, the Rising team is using loads of money and loads of capacity and hardware specs. If you could imagine the PSP team looking at the Rising team saying, they have all the money and specs. That’s the one reason why they are not good friends.”

Well, we are creating a trailer for PSP like crazy. We give our best and think we did great, it looks great. But when we look at the Rising team we say, should we really keep creating PSP? Because the Rising graphics are so high quality.”

Oh dear.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is out next year for the PSP. Metal Gear Solid: Rising was announced at E3 at the Microsoft press conference as an Xbox 360 game, but was later confirmed to be coming to PlayStation 3. No new info on the game will be coming until E3 2010.

Thanks, GamePro.

God of War Collection Not Heading To Europe

god of war collection

Live in the EU? Well, this God of War announcement will be of particular interest. As many of you no doubt know, SCEA announced that God of War I and II are being remastered (720p, anti-aliasing and trophies all part of it) and are going to be released on the PS3 in the God of War Collection. Fantastic news you may have thought! And you’re right… if you’re a citizen of the United States.

Today SCEE confirmed to VG247 that it won’t be released in the EU this year

“We are currently looking into options to bring God of War I and II to SCEE consumers on PS3; however it will not be possible to release the games this calendar year. We will provide further information in due course.”

The game will be released sometime in the run-up to Christmas. Just remember, pretty much all bar one game for PS3 is region-free, so if you fancy it you can import the God of War Collection from the States.
