Gran Turismo 5 Date To Be Confirmed

gt5SCEE has told GOONL!NE that a release date for Gran Turismo 5 is still to be confirmed.

It comes as it was discovered that Play.com had the game down for November 27th 2009 with Game having it down for September (picked up by TheSixthAxis).

But a SCEE rep told us that a date for the game was to be confirmed, simply stating:

The release date for GT5 is still TBC.

But it does now strongly indicate a 2009 release for the game after PD’s Kazunori Yamauchi said that they could release GT5 antime.

I want to release it as fast as I can. but GT5 for us, when you talk about its status, it’s at a point we can release it any time we want, but we can always keep working on it. It’s very important for us to make sure everything is done perfectly and everything is done in detail.

Dont count this one out yet, but consider it knocked back for now.

SCEE: We Respect Acti’s Opinion But No Comment

playstation-3Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has told GOONL!NE that although they respect Activision opinion that they will pull PlayStation support unless they cut the price of the PS3, they will not be commenting on the matter. The official statement given to us by a SCEE rep goes as so:

We respect our third parties opinions and their right to express those opinions but we will not be commenting on this story.

It comes as Bobby Kotick revealed that his company may pull support for the PLAYSTATION 3 unless a price cut comes into effect, but Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter said to VG247 that they were bluffing. Keep an eye on this one, this is gonna get uglier before it gets better we think.

Activision Issue a Cut or Run Ultimatium to Sony

ps3UPDATE: SCEE has replied to GOONL!NE, giving a no comment.

Original Story: WE’RE AT DEATH-CON 1 FOLKS, DEATH-FUCKING-CON 1! RUN FOR THE FUCKING HILLS!

Activision-Blizzard president Bobby Kotick has come out to The Times online stating that Sony needs to cut the price for the PLAYSTATION 3 or they will pull support for PS3 and PSP. That means big games like Modern Warfare, Call of Duty and Guitar Hero will not be on the system any more.

They have to cut the price, because if they don’t, the attach rates are likely to slow. If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony. Games generate a better return on invested capital on the Xbox than on the PlayStation.

However, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has said to VG247 that Acti are bluffing though.

Of course Bobby’s bluffing, and good for him. I think Bobby’s obviously interested in Sony selling as many PS3s as they possibly can, and he’s not happy with their penetration so far. I think he favours a price cut, and would rather see one sooner than later.

We’ve left an email with SCEE to respond to it.
