RUMOR: Metal Gear Solid Movie to Release July 2011

Posted in Metal Gear Solid with tags , , , , , , , , on June 16, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

MGS4Now, our head’s saying fake but our Kojima side is saying real. Quite frankly, we dont know what is real anymore.

According to PS3-Center, the picture after the jump is something taken from Sony Pictures in Culver City, Los Angeles. That something is, apparently, the movie poster for Metal Gear Solid. A MGS movie was confirmed a long time ago, two years ago infact, but since then we havent heard a peep other then the David Hayter controversy last year.

But now, with Konami promising a week full of announcements concerning MGS4 and MGS, this could seem plausable. The poster shows a date of July 2011 as a release date for the movie. Also, according to them, Solid and Liquid Snake have been casted already: Christian Bale (The Dark Night, Terminator Salvation) as Solid Snake with Bale long tipped for the role alongside Viggo Mortensan of The Lord of the Rings and Kiefer Sutherland of 24.

Liquid though has been casted by someone who we didnt see coming: Daniel Craig (Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Munich). And if you look really hard, it looks like a ninja which may confirm the movie is a big screen version of Shadow Moses. Again, take with a pinch of salt and put it down as rumor as we dont think the logo should look alot like the first game, plus it does reference Hideo Kojima which you’d think would be in the small print of the poster.

Picture is after the jump.

FIFA 10UPDATE: GOONL!NE got in touch with Romily Broad, who is the community manager for EA Sports Football World.

Simply put: not true.

NEXT!

Original Story: If your a Liverpool or Everton fan, basically any Scousers, you may wanna look away now. We’ve just uncovered that Wayne Rooney of Manchester United will be gracing the cover of FIFA 10 in the UK when the game launches in October.

However, we’ve put it down as rumor for now as EA have not confirmed the cover stars for the game. However, it seems to be this year that the cover doesnt star, for once, Ronaldihno of AC Milan who has been on the cover for the past 3 years alongside Rooney as a Brazil and Barcelona player.

The boxart can be seen also for the game on the Wii and every other platform at Game, but we have the Xbox 360 boxart after the jump.

We’ve asked EA to comment on this.

CONFIRMED: PEGI to Solely Regulate Videogame Ratings in UK

Posted in Other Gaming with tags , , , , , , , , on June 16, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

PEGIIt’s been confirmed by the British Government that the PEGI ratings system, which has been in place in Europe for nearly 5 years, will regulate and rate every game that will be released in the UK which now means the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) will no longer rate videogames in the UK.

It now means games like Grand Theft Auto and Metal Gear Solid would be rated through PEGI and not the BBFC as beforehand. Had the move come in before today, Prototype would have been rated as a PEGI 18 in the UK, not the BBFC’s 18.

ELSPA have welcomed the move with welcome arms with it’s director general Mike Rawlinson saying that the government has made the “right choice”.

By choosing PEGI as the single classification system in the UK, British children will now get the best possible protection when playing videogames either on a console or on the internet. Parents can be assured that they will have access to clear, uniform ratings on games and an accurate understanding of game content.

However, the BBFC has already come out and said it can do better at ratings then PEGI, according to the head of the BBFC, David Cooke (from MCV, via VG247).

The BBFC has always supported PEGI and wished it well, but it continues to believe that it satisfies these requirements better than PEGI. However, it will cooperate fully in the detailed work needed to give effect to the government’s decision. And it must be independent in substance as well as appearance, reaching its decisions and providing information on the basis of its own detailed assessments.

Partners of ELSPA have come out and welcomed the move, partners such as Nintendo, Ubisoft, EA, Microsoft and SEGA.

It comes in the form of a brand new report from the government called “Digital Britian”, outlined by the Culture Secratary Ben Bradshaw, a suggestion made by the Byron report which was published back in June last year. The full press release from ELSPA is after the jump.

Microsoft: Xbox Natal is Nonsense

Posted in Project Natal, Xbox 360 with tags , , , , on June 16, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

NatalA source close to Project Natal has told Eurogamer that any plans for a Xbox Natal are nonsense. The rumor came on Saturday when 1up had rumored that a new Xbox would be released specfically for Natal next year and would be seen as early as GDC next year.

Don’t believe nonsense on the internet is all I’ll say. We’ll do the right thing for Natal.

Meanwhile, Aaron Greenberg, who is product management head for Xbox, basically come and said no new console will be neccasary.

I think part of the excitement about this announcement is that in many ways we are delivering a next generation experience this generation. With that said, I can confirm that Natal will run on Xbox 360 so no new console investment will be necessary.

Consider that one killed.
